Vanguard Center for Gambling Treatment

Vanguard Center for Gambling Recovery

Our Vanguard Center for Gambling Recovery is a residential program solely for those suffering from problem gambling. Beginning with a comprehensive, realistic personal treatment plan, the Center offers men and women – ages 18 and older – the tools necessary to begin their process to recovery from gambling and discover some of the obstacles in their lives that may challenge long-term recovery.

Located on our Granite Falls Main Campus, it offers a safe, serene environment for individuals to rediscover life without gambling. Though Vanguard is an independent program within Project Turnabout, patients share common areas and the resources of the entire facility. These include Central Medical and Withdrawal Management services, nursing services, and nutrition and fitness services. All the while remaining an exclusive program, operating independent of all Alcohol and Drug Recovery programming.

History

In 1992, Project Turnabout opened the Vanguard Center for Gambling Recovery. The program has become recognized nationally as a center of excellence for men and women seeking recovery from compulsive gambling. It is currently the only residential program for problem gambling in Minnesota and only one of a handful of programs in the nation. Patients come from across the country and around the globe to find the help and hope necessary to make recovery and life-long abstinence from gambling a reality. Learn more about our history here.

Personalized Treatment Program

Upon arrival, all Vanguard patients participate in a comprehensive assessment with our clinical team. These involve physical and psychological assessments, gambling behavior, social, spiritual, nutritional, education and family histories. Information gathered is evaluated by our clinical team, and used alongside the patient to design a personal treatment plan.

Each plan is encouraged to integrate evidence-based practices, embrace the principles of the 12-Steps of Gamblers’ Anonymous, and utilize a variety of therapeutic methods. This includes: Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, 12-Step Facilitation, and other evidence-based approaches.

We believe that families are an essential part to lifelong recovery. As a part of their personalized plan, each patient is encouraged to invite as many loved ones participate in our integrated Family Recovery Program as they wish. Due to the distance our patients often travel for our unique program, alternative family sessions may be arranged with our family counselors.
