PROJECT TURNABOUT WILLMAR CAMPUS RECEIVES DONATION FROM DAN BAKER FOUNDATION

WILLMAR, MINN. – June 2, 2021 -- Project Turnabout Addiction Recovery Centers is the recipient of a $10,954 gift from the Dan Baker Foundation Fund of Willmar Area Community Foundation. The gift is a contribution toward Project Turnabout’s fundraising efforts in support of its Willmar Campus expansion.

The campus includes a new building – now under construction-- that will offer a 16-bed women’s residential, outpatient center and staff offices. When complete in fall 2021, the new center will join other Project Turnabout buildings on the property to complete a block-wide area comprising the Project Turnabout Willmar Campus. Existing buildings include Cheri’s Place, a sober living home; The Alcove meditation space refurbished by Fred Cogelow, award-winning wood sculptor, from the historic “Gabbert House” previously existing on the block; and a townhome complex reserved for recovering women pursuing higher education or vocational training.

Marti Paulson, Project Turnabout Executive Director/CEO, expressed gratitude for the donation. “The Dan Baker Foundation and the Bakers have been tremendously supportive of Project Turnabout’s mission. Through the years the Foundation has supported projects at our Granite Falls main campus, as well as in Willmar with donations to Earl’s Place and Cheri’s Place Sober Living Residences. We are pleased to accept this latest gift that helps us grow services and eliminate a gap in the continuum of care for women with substance use disorders in Minnesota.”

The Dan Baker Foundation was established in 2011 in honor of Dan Baker with a mission to provide strength and support to persons, families and organizations fighting addiction. In making the donation, Mary and Dave Baker said they have been honored through the years to do good in Dan’s memory. “We wish Project Turnabout great success with the expansion in Willmar, including the new treatment center for women. We look forward to its opening later this year.”
