PROJECT TURNABOUT RECEIVES GRANT FROM WILLMAR AREA COMMUNITY FOUNDATION

WILLMAR, MINN. – June 2, 2021 -- Project Turnabout Addiction Recovery Centers has been awarded a $20,000 grant from the Willmar Area Community Foundation. The grant supports Project Turnabout’s work to build a women’s treatment center in Willmar, and is a contribution toward its fundraising efforts to complete the project.

The center, now under construction, includes a 16-bed women’s residential, outpatient center and staff offices. When complete in fall 2021, the new center will join other Project Turnabout buildings on the “Willmar Campus,” a block-wide area that includes Cheri’s Place, a sober living home; The Alcove meditation space refurbished by Fred Cogelow, award-winning wood sculptor, from the historic “Gabbert House” previously existing on the block; and a townhome complex reserved for recovering women pursuing higher education or vocational training.

Marti Paulson, Project Turnabout Executive Director/CEO, expressed gratitude for the award. “This grant is tremendous encouragement to many who will benefit by the medium/low intensity treatment that we’ll be able to offer with the opening of the new center. Ultimately, the grant helps further develop the Willmar Campus where we are expanding services and eliminating a gap in the continuum of care for women with substance use disorders in Minnesota.”

The Willmar Area Community Foundation (WACF) started in 1998 to foster charitable giving opportunities in the region and better meet the needs of the greater Willmar community. Since that time, it has grown to $19.8 million in assets and awarded $9.6 million in grants to nonprofits.
